Friday September 16, 2011 BIG MONEY WILL BE UP FOR GRABS AT THE BILL THOMAS MEMORIAL MICRO-SPRINT NATIONALS
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (September 16, 2011) - Micro-Sprint racers will have a chance at a big payday on Saturday, October 8 at Bridgeport Speedway. The Bill Thomas Memorial Micro-Sprint Nationals will pay a cool $1000 to the winner of the 270cc and 600cc Micro-Sprint 30-lap feature races. For the first time and going forward, this annual event at Bridgeport Speedway will honor the late William “Bill” Thomas IV, who passed away on October 23, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. Thomas was active in racing since the early 90s and an ardent supporter of Bridgeport Speedway’s Micro-Sprint race program. A strong field of competitors from the area is expected to be on hand for this special event.
On Saturday, October 8, the gates will open at 3:00 PM. Warm-ups will get underway at 5:00 PM with action set to begin shortly after hot laps. Pit admission will be $30. General grandstand admission will be $15 with no charge for kids 12 and under. Entry forms for the Bill Thomas Memorial Micro-Sprint Nationals will be available at the speedway and at www.bpspeedway.com.
Bridgeport Speedway provides a safe and secure family atmosphere, free parking, giveaways and fan participation games. Billed ‘The Fastest Dirt Track in the East’, Bridgeport Speedway is a banked 5/8th mile dirt oval, featuring a dirt 1/4 mile oval embedded in the center, and is located in Southern New Jersey -- just minutes from Pennsylvania and Delaware at exit 14 off of I-295.
